Motor User interFACE, with LCD-Display, Stepper Motor BiPolar Driver and Bootloader

This device, the size of a cell phone, comprises of a PLC-controller and a clock generator to ensure highly precise speed levels. All adjustments are regulated by four buttons and a single LCD-display: frequency, rotational direction, burst, half- or full-step mode and motor status. Custom-made programs are bootstrapped into the program flash storage of the MUFACE-Controller by means of lightweight PC-GUI and RS232 interface.
Ecodesign:
The menu configuration is simple and clearly arranged. A BiPolar Driver with PWM-Chopper is integrated in a robust aluminum housing; phase currents are adjustable between 0 - 0,75A. The motor coils can be disconnected from the mains by a disable-signal. During development, the focus was on the lowest possible current drain by the controlling the drive, therefore battery drive is also possible. The supply entry is reverse polarity protected and secured by fusible cut-out from high currents and voltage. Hardware control input and all outputs are insulated. Several stepping motors (Tin-Can Type) with coils between 5 and 500 Ohm/Ph which dominate the market today were tested on the MUFACE. This device easily fits into your waistcoat pocket!
