ZFC, Zero Field Cage

Faraday Cage protects with high attenuation from e-fields in the environment

1. General Description

If modern radio sensors are to communicate securely via 2.4 GHz and Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) in highly interferential surroundings, it is difficult to provide for a test environment which is reliably attenuated. In addition, this environment must be easily and rationally operated. The new ZFC-device was developed for the Cylab-department of Prof. Dr. Adrian Perrig of CMU Pittsburgh (PA, USA). Along with that, the University develops very progressive radio protocolls which are then used in radio sensors for the wireless data transmission in car to car communication.
In order to achieve the necessary attenuation values for these housings, different materials and volume combinations were tested. The featured product allows for testing of electronic high-frequency and micro-wave assemblies with well reproducible results.

Features ZFC_V5.5:

  • Protects and attenuates housing content from e-fields
  • Internal volume: Dinternal = 96,0mm, Hinternal = 64,0mm
  • External dimensions: Dexternal = 108mm, Haxternal = 106,0mm
